Debuting in the summer of 1962, Thor was one of the earliest superheroes introduced in Marvel’s Silver Age. As an incarnation of the Norse God of Thunder, he also stands out as one of the publisher’s most powerful characters. Thor was a founding member of the Avengers and he continues to be a perennial fixture in the “World’s Greatest Heroes”. His Silver and Bronze Age runs have long had devoted collector followings and interest in the denizens of Asgard is rising sharply with a Thor movie due for a May release. Coordinated with the release of the Iron Man, Captain America, and Hulk movies, this film is an important piece of the epic lead-in to an Avengers feature film in 2012. Thor will feature Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek) in the title role with Hollywood heavy-weights Natalie Portman (as Jane Foster) and Anthony Hopkins (as Odin) filling out the cast.
