Here it is – the comic book we’ve been waiting over 10 years to get on consignment! The one and only Hulk #181 in CGC 9.9! Tucked away as soon as it was slabbed by CGC back (April, 2001!), it has never been offered for sale. Who knew back then that it would remain the single highest graded 10 years later? Out over 4500 Hulk #181’s graded by CGC, this is the only CGC graded 9.9! Scarcer than the Hulk #181 CGC 9.8 by a multiple of 38 times (and counting), this is a true collector’s item. This got us thinking – what other books within the industry should we compare it to? It is scarcer in CGC 9.9 than Amazing Fantasy #15 is in 9.4, Fantastic Four #1 is in 9.4, Tales to Astonish #27 is CGC 9.4, Hulk #1 is in CGC 9.2, and Amazing Spider-Man #1 is in CGC 9.6, just to name a few! The popularity of Wolverine, who debuts on a cover for the very first time in battle with the Hulk, has likely surpassed that of old Greenskin himself!
Hulk #181 is by far the most significant comic book printed in the last 40 years. Wolverine’s popularity over the last few decades is right up there with Spider-Man’s. The issue is one of the most highly collected of all vintage Marvel comic books and we believe that in CGC 9.9, this singular example is definitively the most significant single comic book graded by CGC published in the last 35 years.
